Going Home

This is the last night in INTI before the term break.
What makes me happy is that i can rest for one week, away from the hectic college life.
But what makes me unhappy is that i still need to do homework=[ it is just like i'm going back and have classes in my own house..
these few days i felt quite tired, this is because i had gone through two tests and three basketball matches this week. Anywhere, it is a delighting week as i was able to play basketball with some good players though our team lost the matches. Probably there will be second IBL in the coming May and our team are ready to take the challenges again.=]

Australian News-Victorians warned of further fierce storms, hail

A SEVERE thunderstorm warning has been issued for damaging wind, flash flooding and large hailstones in parts of Victoria.

The weather bureau warning applies for people in the Northern Country, Northeast and parts of the North Central and Alpine Forecast Districts.

It warns severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, very heavy rainfall, flash flooding and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours.

Earlier, a sudden increase in temperature boosted the chances of more storms in Melbourne.

Weather bureau senior forecaster Richard Carlyon said the city's temperature had shot up to 26C, which could see thunderstorms develop.

"Given we have shot up to 26C we might see thunderstorms develop close to Melbourne which could mean we might see something not far away. But it is still a bit of a waiting game."

Mr Brumby said there were weak trees in many bushfire ravaged parts of Victoria and around the state that were vulnerable to strong winds.Premier John Brumby urged Victorians to batten down the hatches

Mr Brumby warned people to stay inside during the possibly severe storms, and he said people at public events must be prepared to act if weather struck this afternoon.

"It really is batten down the hatches (with forecast) thunderstorms possibly as intense as yesterday,” Mr Brumby said."We got through yesterday without any loss of life or serious injury, we would want to see if we could keep to this today and tomorrow."

"We should take great care as we move through this afternoon, tonight and into tomorrow and make sure we put this focus on protecting life and protecting public safety."

He said the roof of the arts centre had been badly damaged by yesterday’s storms and could cost up to millions of dollars to repair.

He was unable to put an estimated dollar figure on the expected repair bill, and said more damage is expected to be reported in the coming days when people return home from Labour Day holidays.

Crews from the NSW State Emergency Service have been drafted in to help their Victorian counterparts clean up the damage caused by the mini-cyclone storm that lashed Melbourne yesterday.

The storm cell unleashed itself on the city at 2.40pm, dumping 26mm of rain in less than an hour.

Critique:

I believe that Victorians will be facing a devastating period during the fierce storms season. There will be a serious damage of properties and probably human lives. Therefore, people in that area have to be careful whenever they are going out and staying at home should be the best option for them to avoid the bad whether. On the other hands, government should take early action in preventing the fierce storm to become disaster. Necessaries like food should be prepaid in advanced. Thinking from another perspective, why fierce storms are likely to occur so often? According to article above, it said that thunderstorm is developed due to the shot-up of temperature. Think more deeply, does the increase in global temperature related to what human had done? A 100% yes! The fast development of world had cause a severe change to the earth environment and made it polluted. So, human have to be more concern about the earth and start to save it from now!

An issue on education~

POOR Australian children are less likely to do well at school than disadvantaged children overseas, the architect of the My School website declared yesterday.

Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority chairman Barry McGaw called on governments to do more to "reduce the impact of demography" on school results.

He said any additional taxpayer funding for schools should be reserved for the most disadvantaged schools -- not spent on high-performing private schools.

"We ought to be doing better in reducing the impact of demography," he said.

Professor McGaw -- a former director of education at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development -- said demographics had a stronger influence on educational outcomes in Australia than in the comparable high-performing countries of Canada, Finland, South Korea and Japan.

He said the impact of demographics on education in Australia was greater than the OECD average. "Poorer schools languish and schools in poor communities struggle to a greater extent here (in Australia)," he said.

"It could be the public-private (school) difference but we don't know.

"We've got a socially differential community: poor people live in one area and advantaged in another. Advantaged people by and large can look after themselves and it takes government intervention to help the disadvantaged."

Professor McGaw said educators would learn from the results of the My School website, which received nine million hits in its first 24 hours, to ensure that poorly performing disadvantaged schools could learn from other poor schools that were doing well.

"We ought to use the evidence from the My School website to identify schools working with disadvantaged kids who are performing badly, and help them to adopt the practice of schools with disadvantaged kids who are performing well," he said.

Education Minister Julia Gillard yesterday insisted poor children could get a "fantastic education", as some schools in disadvantaged communities were delivering good results "against the odds".

"A poor child can get a fantastic education and fantastic results," Ms Gillard said. "They need an extra helping hand to do so and we are going to be there with that."

Ms Gillard said the Rudd government would pour more than $2 billion of resources into disadvantaged schools to improve literacy, numeracy and teacher quality. "We are ready to go now and (the resources) will be rolled out in schools," she said.

"We are making up for 12 years of Liberal neglect. We are determined to make a difference."

I see eye to eye with their points of view which stated in the article above. Government should concentrated on those disadvantaged school as everyone has the right to deserve the same level of education. Basic literacy and numeracy are important for students nowadays for they will be left behind without any knowledge. Poor performing students should be guided with full patient especially by teachers to help them do well in later time. Every teens is the asset of a country, so government ought to provide them the best education for the country will get the fruition in the future.

yeaH...one more nice song~~~from westlife

Have You Ever Been In Love....

See full size image

In morning light
Half awake and half asleep
Have you ever laid there thinking
Was it all a dream?
But you reach out and she's there
Every moment, everywhere
Have you ever been in love?

Have you ever felt
How far a heart can fall
Have you ever stayed up waiting
For a telephone call
Just to hear her say hello
Cause you miss each other so
Have you ever been in love?

Have there been times to laugh
And times you really want to cry
Finding reasons to believe her
cause you'd die a little if she lied
And when in times of doubt
Have you ever tried to work it out
But still she leaves you wondering
What it's all about

And when she's far away
Have you ever felt the need to stray
And tried and then discovered
It just doesn't pay
Cause with her, you can be true
And with her, you can be you
Have you ever been in love?

Have there been times to laugh
And times you really want to cry
Finding reasons to believe her
Cause you'd die a little if she lied
And when in times of doubt
Have you ever tried to work it out
But still she leaves you wondering
What its all about

And when the night comes down
Can you call your house a home
Do you dream you're still together
And wake up alone
Have you ever been in love
The way that I'm in love
Have you ever been in love?
Have you ever been in love?

another nice song~~~MORE THAN WORDS...

Saying I love you
Is not the words I want to hear from you
It's not that I want you
Not to say, but if you only knew
How easy it would be to show me how you feel
More than words is all you have to do to make it real
Then you wouldn't have to say that you love me
Cos I'd already know
What would you do if my heart was torn in two
More than words to show you feel
That your love for me is real
What would you say if I took those words away
Then you couldn't make things new
Just by saying I love you
More than words
Now I've tried to talk to you and make you understand
All you have to do is close your eyes
And just reach out your hands and touch me
Hold me close don't ever let me go
More than words is all I ever needed you to show
Then you wouldn't have to say that you love me
Cos I'd already know
What would you do if my heart was torn in two
More than words to show you feel
That your love for me is real
What would you say if I took those words away
Then you couldn't make things new
Just by saying I love you
More than words.

song sharing..

just wanna share a meeaningfull song...from Westlife
hope u will like it..

Everybody's looking for that something
One thing that makes it all complete
You find it in the strangest places
Places you never knew it could be

Some find it in the face of their children
Some find it in their lover's eyes
Who can deny the joy it brings
When you've found that special thing
You're flying without wings

Some find it sharing every morning
Some in their solitary lives
You'll find it in the words of others
A simple line can make you laugh or cry

You'll find it in the deepest friendship
The kind you cherish all your life
And when you know how much that means
You've found that special thing
You're flying without wings

So, impossible as it may seem
You've got to fight for every dream
Cos who's to know which one you let go Would have made you complete

Well, for me it's waking up beside you
To watch the sunrise on your face
To know that I can say I love you
At any given time or place

It's little things that only I know
Those are the things that make you mine
And it's like flying without wings
Cos you're my special thing
I'm flying without wings

And you're the place my life begins
and you'll be where it ends
I'm flying without wings
And that's the joy you bring
I'm flying without wings....
